Home From a Great Trip

I did get that 3 day trip I predicted after all. The only difference was I got the call at 11:00 pm for a 7:30 am show instead of a 4 am two hour call out.

We started the trip with a San Jose turn then went to Detroit for a quick 10 hour overnight. It should have been 12 hours, but there was a two hour delay in Denver before we could leave. I was happy with the sit because one of my favorite people was sitting the couch and he and I got to have a very long chat.

Detroit hardly counted we were there such a short time, then home to Denver, on to Salt Lake City and back, then to Phoenix overnight. Phoenix is one of my favorite cities for a layover because the bartender downstairs in our hotel is so entertaining. She's very nice if you're nice to her, and holds nothing back if you're a jerk. She's fun to listen to because whatever pops into her head pops right out her mouth with no censorship at all. At least I'd hate to think she actually DOES censor herself. Imagine what she's holding back if she does edit! Four of us from our crew sat in the bar for about 3 hours after we got in last night, trading stories and jokes and laughing, laughing, laughing. Our Captain is the husband of a flight attendant I flew with on a four day a few weeks ago, and he's every bit as nice as she said he is. He's a bit of a smart ass, but he does it with such self deprecating humor and a twinkle in his eye you can't do anything but laugh at him.

This morning several of us met for a long leisurely breakfast at the IHOP then I spent a very pleasant couple of hours by the pool chatting with our first officer - a very interesting woman who spent the first 12 years of her life in Africa. I think she's traveled almost all over the world and has a very interesting world view.

This was such a great trip! Everyone I flew with was tremendous fun. The other two FAs and I spent our whole time busting on each other over every little thing and I love that kind of banter. The C FA and I played our little cute guy game over the beverage cart, which was very busy since during the last two days we carried both the AF Academy Water Polo Team and the AF Academy Boxing Team. Schwing! (Although it's a very sad sign of how old you're getting when you see a cute kid in a uniform and get all maternal instead of hot and bothered. Sigh....)

I am now at 68.26 hours for the month and am thrilled to be home for my only 3 day block of days offall month long.

I really hope my good luck with fun crews lasts. It transforms this job from something that's necessary to endure into something exhilarating and thrilling to do.

I am so glad that you had a great trip! My last trip was so much fun - I actually looked forward to getting up at 4AM to get back on that plane...but you understand.

I've heard about the Phoenix bartender - but both times I've been there, she has been off. Instead, I went to my very first sushi bar...it was a blast!

Enjoy your days off!
