After much stress on my part about whether all four of us could get on a DC flight or not, we all made it on board our first flight of the day yesterday morning and were on the ground in DC by 1:30 in the afternoon. Kate picked us up, took us to see her new home and her new church, then we went back down into the city for some evening sightseeing.

Hello from DC
One of the perks of being an airline employee is the free air travel - when you can get a standby seat. I have 4 days off this week so my family and I decided to go see our good friend Kate who now lives in the DC area.

Like I said, try and get to the Spy Museum, the Holocaust Museum (very depressing...), the Smithsonian and the Air and Space Museum, Mt. Vernon, Arlington Cemetery...I could go on and on. I lived there from '68 to '78 and then again from around '82 to '85. I love that city...
I don't know if we can make it to the Spy Museum or not - there are just too many things on the list!! We spent so much time in the Holocaust Museum yesterday we didn't get to everything on our list, but that is to be expected. We went to the Bureau of Printing and Engraving, the National Archives and the Holocaust Museum, which is whoa....Maggie was so into we spent almost 4 hours there! But I have to say it was time definitely well spent.
Today we are going to try to get to the Air & Space and Natural History Museums, the Washington Monument, the Portrait Gallery and maybe the National Law Enforcement, Jefferson, Mason and FDR Memorials, if we have enough time. If not - we'll just have to come back! (I know a couple of those might seem like odd choices, but there are a couple of family friends I need to look for at the LEO Memorial, and Maggie as a homework assignment to get as much Revolutionary War history as possible.
How are you feeling, btw, cause I know you're back on call....
